EDUCATION
Ø IMPAKT NIGERIA collaborated with Kano Educational Resource Department (KERD), CFAO NIPEN (makers of Bic Biro), Kano State and Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Kano State branch to Organize Quiz Competitions, which cut across several schools in Kano state.
The Partnership, which was first of its kind with KERD, was attended by several secondary schools and produced a winner and 2 Runner up who went home with Educational Materials from Cadbury Nig Plc and CFAO NIPEN in addition with Cadbury Products and others. (Please see appendix 3 for pictures).
Ø In a bit to achieve our Education for All Project and support schools, we were moved to renovate Chris Model Secondary School, Nfom in Cross River State and we provided Stationeries to facilitate learning to 6 (six) Secondary schools in Kano State through the Support of CFAO NIPEN and other well meaningful Individuals.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
- We were surprised and moved at the state of water level of filin Chiranchi people of Gwale Local Govt., Kano State who suffered from Water-borne disease due to their poor water system “Why should people die or spend their hard earned money on hospital bills because of water-related disease when efforts can be made to prevent it”
The acute need of so many disadvantaged Filin Chiranchi people provoked us to take steps beyond just wishing them well, this resulted in providing them a Hand Pump Borehole which benefitted over 500 people. (Please see appendix 4 for pictures).
CAPACITY BUILDING
To alleviate the poverty level of the rural community of Kano State, some Secondary school students (Year 12 students) were trained in different vocational so as to cater for themselves after school in case they decide they are not going into University. We believe in, “Empower a woman, empower a Nation”
MDG CAPACITY TRAINING
In consonance with the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), the National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS) and the needs for information flow on these policies, some of our members were trained as Development knowledge facilitators (DKFS) and in return, we were mandated to train other young people in schools and community.
We had trainings in Kano State and Cross River simultaneously and each of the training class we had with the students each week focused on knowledge sharing on MDGs and NEEDS, which was tailored towards making life better.
In our trainings, we used real life and every day happenings since the issues at stake are real life applications and for the sake of effective training.
The Primary method of teaching used for trainings includes discussion, brainstorming, filmshows, case study. The first day training started with registration and followed by pre-test.
We explained all the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs), how the MDGs came into existence and also linked it with NEEDS which are both aimed at solving humanity problem.
